Enhance your Nissan Leaf's unique character with this plug & play replacement for the VSP (Vehicle Sounds for Pedestrians) module. The Leafy Warbler uses real-time speed and accelerator data to synthesize dynamic engine sounds or playback prerecorded sound samples as you drive.

Compatibility

Works with Nissan Leaf AZE0 & ZE1 models, manufactured from 2013 to 2025. Replaces VSP part numbers 285N6-3NF0C and 285N6-5SK0A.

Controls

The Leafy Warbler can be controlled by placing the car in neutral and using the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel (ZE1 and some later AZE0 vehicles only).

The Leaf's stock VSP mute button (if equipped) is also compatible.

Alternatively, dedicated buttons (not included) can be connected to the expansion port using a standard JST XHP-4 connector. A compatible cable is available as an optional add-on.

Installation

The VSP can be found in one of two locations in the car. Its location can vary, so if you don't find the VSP in one spot try the other. Detailed instructions for each location can be found below:

Customisation

The Leafy Warbler can be reprogrammed using the on-board USB‑C port. You can download the source code and modify or recompile it using the open-source Raspberry Pi Pico C/C++ SDK.
